LeFanu Portrait concert: Octandre ensemble 04/03/2018



Octandre ensemble are presenting a LeFanu Portrait concert at the Print Room, Notting Hill Gate, on March 4th 2018 at 5pm. It includes Deva for solo cello and ensemble, and String quartet no2 played by the Ligeti string quartet. Music by Lumsdaine and Maconchy is featured too.

Cantata premiere, 18/02/2018

My new cantata, 'St Hilda of Whitby', to a text by Wendy Cope, will be premiered on February 18th, 2018; 5.30 pm at the University Church, Oxford. It was commissioned by the Association of Senior Members of St Hilda's College, Oxford. It will be performed bySt Hilda's College choir and instrumentalists, conducted by Jonathan Williams.

LeFanu concert, St Paul's Girls' School, 30/11/2017

SPGS are giving a concert on Thursday 30th November at 7pm. Marking LeFanu's 70th birthday, it is 'A Celebration of composing at St Paul's Girls' School'. The programme includes six pieces by LeFanu and six pieces by present staff and pupils.

Threnody for large orchestra: 25th November, Lyons Concert Hall, York

Threnody for large orchestra will open the concert given by the University of York Symphony Orchestra, conductor John Stringer, on Saturday November 25th 2017. Lyons Concert Hall, 7.30.

LeFanu concert, November 9th 2017

Lontano are presenting a concert of my chamber music in celebration of my 70th birthday.
It is at The Warehouse, 13 Theed St, London SE1 8ST on Thursday November 9th. The concert starts at 7.30pm, with a pre-concert talk at 6.30. Tickets on the door or in advance from www.eventbrite.co.uk/d/united-kingdom-london/nicola-lefanu-70th
The programme is a retrospective, from 'The Same Day Dawns' (1974) with soprano Raphaela Papadakis, to the London premiere of 'The Swan' (2017) with baritone Jeremy Huw Williams. Lontano are conducted by their director, Odaline de la Martinez.

BBC Radio 3 broadcast, Friday October 13th 2017

'Windblown Seeds' for string orchestra will be broadcast on Friday October 13th at 4pm. The BBC Philharmonic is conducted by Clark Rundell.
